Vocational Rehabilitation
Re-Entering the Workplace Safely, Confidently, and Legally
Occupational Therapists function as the essential link between the medical world and the world of work. If an illness, mental health condition, or physical injury has disrupted your ability to do your job, you don’t have to figure out the road back alone.
We design structured, individualized pathways to help individuals reintegrate into their work roles optimally, safely, and efficiently.
What We Do: The Core of Voc Rehab
Our vocational rehabilitation services bridge the gap between recovery and employment through:
-
Work Simulation: Engaging in tailored, simulated work tasks during therapy at our practice to rebuild your stamina and functional skills before you return to the job.
-
Graded Return-to-Work Plans: Designing a highly specific, step-by-step timeline that gradually increases your hours and duties as your capacity grows.
-
Workplace Adaptations: Evaluating and altering your physical work environment (such as ergonomic adjustments) to allow you to perform your duties comfortably.
-
Employer Liaison & Reasonable Accommodation: Communicating directly with employers to negotiate fair workplace adjustments that align with the Labour Relations and Employment Equity Acts.
For Individuals: Are You Struggling at Work?
Returning to work after a major life disruption—or trying to stay afloat while managing a health condition—can feel overwhelming.
Signs you could benefit from Vocational Rehabilitation:
-
You are hesitant to return: You've been off work due to an injury or illness and feel physically or mentally unready to handle your old workload.
-
You are currently struggling on the job: You are back at work but experiencing severe pain, exhaustion, cognitive difficulties, or mental health struggles while performing your duties.
-
You need workplace changes but don't know how to ask: You know you need modifications to your desk, tools, or schedule, but you don't have the objective clinical backing to present to your manager.
For Employers: Protecting Your Workforce & Business
Managing an injured or struggling employee requires a careful balance of empathy, productivity management, and strict legal compliance.
When to refer an employee to our service:
-
An employee has been on prolonged sick leave, and you need an expert, structured plan to phase them back into the business safely.
-
A staff member is underperforming due to a known physical or psychiatric health condition, and you want to proactively provide support.
-
You need to establish Reasonable Accommodation under the Employment Equity Act but require an OT to assess the workspace and define what is actually practical and fair.

We accept a wide range of cases to ensure everyone can access care, including:
